September 2024 News

There is no sign of the Kestrels winding down on their commitment and enjoyment of running. This month has seen a wide range of events including some very very long ones.

  • The Great North Run 2024 was completed on a very rainy day by Jade J and John. 🙌
  • On the same rainy day, Ian W, Jon C and Rachel C completed the Vale of York Half Marathon. 🎊
  • The Big Dipper was completed by Jemma W in less that 2 hours which is incredible for the UK’s hilliest half. ⛰
  • Ultra X event Gemma and Rochie absolutely wowed us with their completion of the Peak District 30 mile trail running loop. In comparison, Amy C did a mere 20 miles on the 9 Edges run
  • Chatsworth House 10km Rob and Mark D represented team Kestrels at this event. Well done both! 👏
  • Tissington Half saw a flurry of PBs and course PBS. Well done to Sara, Andy, James H and Phil C. 👏
  • Sarah and Andy are also topping their age group leader boards at the KMR races and we are of course looking for a double Kestrel win there! 🏆🏆
  • Treeton Bolt saw several prizes: Paul U was 2nd overall, Chris B was first in his age category and 6th overall and Kestrels second claim running for Rawmarsh Phil M was 3rd overall. 🍾
  • The Fell lovers Kev, Annie and Louise completed Stanage Struggle. Which we know starts with a big uphill! Well done all.
  • Sheffield 10K saw a flurry of PBs and happy faces. Chris M and Paul U were both in the first 50 to be back. Abby H was 20th woman over the line. Excellent performances and many PBs also from Gemma B, Laura B, Rach C, Jade J and Iain R. 👏
  • Nottingham half marathon Well done to Jasper who ran a fantastic race despite having an injured knee.
  • Loch Ness Marathon Taking on this hilly 26.2 miles was Steve C and our Rawmarsh friend Phil M. Steve was back in 03:26. He ran so fast that he missed Nessie. 🦕
  • In the world outside of running, our second claim Nat N had a brief holiday to complete the Lands End to John O’Groats cycle challenge. An incredible amount of miles each day – Wow. 🚲
  • And to our Kestrel swimmers who have been braving the open water at Rother Valley with Amy and Nat; big shout out to Nicola, Lou, Alice, Kate, Kati, Rach and Sam who all took to the open water this year. 🏊‍♀️🦆

Finally, we wish the best of luck to our three teams entered in Round Rotherham Run on Saturday, as well as those Kestrels going solo and aiming to complete the 50 miles. We will be cheering you all on.
