Autumn 2023

Kestrels News Update

As Summer has now subsided and we move into Autumn and Winter, it brings us into one of the busiest periods of the Kestrel calendar.

As the temperature drops, so the hills increase as we have now moved into our Winter routes and begin thinking about the Cross-Country season in January (more on this later). We also start to think about our Christmas celebrations and we have a few asks of you all as we begin to look towards our presentation night on the 12th December

New Members

First of all let’s say a big welcome to our new members over the last few weeks

Tasha White

Laura Bennett

Kelvin Bramhall

Already we’ve seen some great performances from Kelvin at the Big Dipper and Laura at Worksop – Well done to both of you!

Just a reminder that if you are chatting to anyone who isn’t a member, please mention that is a great idea to sign up – not least so we have correct details and can contact people easily.

Winter Routes

If you have been to Club in recent weeks you won’t have failed to notice that we have now moved to our Winter Road Routes. These routes are mainly pavement based but we do ask that you wear high visibility clothing and /or a torch as there are many roads to cross along the way. We are very lucky (!) in Killamarsh that we have such generous hills so be sure to collect the full set of Long Lane, Ashley, Rotherham Road, High moor and of course BOTH Eckington hills!

We are aware that we have had some issues with our Run calendar on the Website – unfortunately this isn’t the easiest feature to create and each run has to be entered manually but we are working on it. As a rough guide though the planned runs will be as below, though we may throw in a couple of social runs along the way.

On the theme of social runs, we had a great time on our Halloween special last week on the search for the famous White Lady of Mosborough…. we didn’t spot her but we took consolation with a few spirits in the West End on Thursday instead.
