Handsworth XC on Sunday 12th February

Morning all – a reminder (if you needed it) thats its Handsworth XC on Sunday.

DONT FORGET YOUR NUMBERS!

– please see attached from handsworth for more details:

Hi everyone,

This is to confirm Handsworth Roadhogs are ready with the Handsworth leg of the inter club winter crossy series this coming Sunday (12th Feb) at 11am.

It will be the usual two lap course with the finish in the field behind Handsworth church at the top of the hill on Handsworth Road. The start will be on Grange Lane which is at the bottom of the same field. The course will be taped up and marshals will be at key locations. We’ve not had much rain recently so it’s currently fairly dry underfoot, trail shoes are probably the best footwear.

We really regret it’s not been possible to find a venue to ‘host’ the event – Sunday lunchtime is a peak time for pubs/clubs etc. It is suggested that toilet facilities are available at the ASDA on Handsworth Road near the Sheffield Parkway roundabout and at Morrisons just off the Parkway at Catcliffe. There are also the woods that we use for the course….

We will have bottles of water/crisps/sweets available at the finish.

It’s on street parking only so please car share if you can.

The weather forecast looks decent so we hope to see everyone on Sunday morning👍.

The two lap course is about 5.25 miles/8.5k and quite hilly😃

Clowne XC – Sunday 22nd January

The next XC will be at Clowne on Sunday. Clowne RR have sent us the following information. In addition, please remember your club vest / T shirt and your race number (if you ran at Retford):

· Race starts at 11am. Venue is 15 mins from start.

· The main hall at the Clowne Community Centre, Recreation Close, S43 4PL, will be used as the event venue.

· Try to car share from your respective clubs where possible.

· The course starts and finishes about ¾ mile from the Clowne Community Centre near the Clowne Cricket Club on Mansfield Road and is a good distance for a warm up and a cool down.

· There are no car parks near the start/finish area, so if you are driving up there please park responsibly.

· There will be a gazebo at the start/finish point to leave items while the race takes place. The Recorders and Timekeepers will be in this area for the duration of the race, so kit should be ok.

· The course is approx 5.5 miles classed as undulating, with a broad mix of fields, road, public footways and styles.

· There will be marshals and tape to guide you around the course.

· Please make your way to the Clowne Community Centre after the event for buffet, race results and rehydration (the bar will be open). Also no muddy shoes in the Centre please.

· IMPORTANT: please do not use the lane just after the start area as a toilet. We had complaints couple of years ago with people in full view doing their business!!! If you have to, then go further down the lane and go into the woods.
