The Grand Prix includes 5k, 10k, 10 mile and half marathon road races with the option to submit a marathon time.  We’ve limited the competition these distances so times can be standardised using the WAVA age grading system, like the age grading percentage used at park run (Training – Age Grading Calculator – Fetcheveryone.com).  You must complete a minimum of 5 races across at least 3 distances to qualify with at most 2 5k races.

For example, you could do Rother Valley Parkrun, the Rother Valley relays, two 10k runs from the list below and a half marathon.  Your final score will be the sum of the percentage WAVA age gradings from the five races plus any bonus points (explained below).

Killamarsh Kestrel runners will be automatically entered into the Grand Prix, we will collect the times from the races list below.  Make sure you enter as a Killamarsh Kestrel (no need to be UKA affiliated) and make sure your Parkrun profile says you’re in the Killamarsh Kestrels Group.  If you want to opt out of the Grand Prix details of how to do this are below.

Detailed Grand Prix Rules

  1. The 2026 Club Championship runs from 6th March 2025 to 6th December 2025.
  2. The races shown in the table below have been selected for inclusion in the Club Championship. In addition, any Marathon can be included. Only results from these races are eligible for inclusion in the Club Championship.
  3. When entering a race, make sure you enter as a ‘Killamarsh Kestrels Runner’ so that we can find your result when it becomes available. For Park runs, make sure you’ve selected ‘Killamarsh Kestrels’ in the ‘Groups’ option from your parkrun profile. (Note you don’t need to be UKA affiliated to enter a race as a Killamarsh Kestrel).
  4. Providing you entered a race as a ‘Killamarsh Kestrels Runner’ we’ll obtain your race result directly from the race organiser and include this in your score calculation for the Club Championship. If you did not enter as a ‘Killamarsh Kestrels Runner’ your result will not be counted.
  5. If you entered a race as a ‘Killamarsh Kestrels Runner’ and the result is missing from the results page of the website, please notify us as soon as possible.
  6. Your result from each race will be ranked using age grading (WAVA) to calculate a score.  Your total score from your 5 best races plus bonus points will be used to calculate your final result within the Grand Prix.
  7. You will need to complete a minimum of 5 eligible races across a minimum of 3 distances, with a maximum of 2 5k runs, to qualify for consideration of an award.
  8. There is no limit on the number of races and race results. We will work out your 5 best WAVA scores (across a minimum of 3 different distances) to arrive at your final score.
  9. Bonus points will be awarded to runners for the following:
    • 2 points per race for representing KK in cross-country
    • 4 points for participating in the Round Rotherham run either the relay or the full race.
  10. Bonus points will also be awarded to members who undertake voluntary roles at races organised by KK, even if they don’t run. 2 points for marshalling cross-country, 3 points for volunteering at the 3 lakes classic, 3 points for volunteering at the Parkrun Takeover.
  11. For the purposes of the competition, we consider Parkruns as officially measured (5k) events.
  12. You must be a fully paid-up club member at the time of the race for the result to be allowed.
  13. A KK Vest or T-shirt should be worn in any race that you run as a KK member, i.e., where you make KK ‘your club’ when entering the race.  (If you’re running for charity, then the relevant charity vest will be permitted).
  14. The Committee reserve the right not to accept submissions where issues relating to race distance or other irregularities have been reported.
  15. If a race is cancelled, the Committee reserve the right to find a suitable alternative.
  16. We strongly encourage all members to participate in the Club Championship. However, if you wish to withdraw from the competition, please send a request to kestrelsgpleague@gmail.com stating your reason.
