Defibrillator demonstration event

Hi Everyone,

The club is hosting a defibrillator demonstration event at the West End Hotel on Thursday 5th September at 8pm lasting around an hour.

The event will cover the basics of how to use a defib, what steps to take during a cardiac arrest, and provide hands-on practice with a dummy defibrillator and CPR. The evening is aimed at people, such as myself who wouldn’t have a clue what to do in the event of an emergency.

Its completely free to attend, you can have a pint and attending a defib demo is probably the most selfless thing you could ever do as you’ll never perform CPR on yourself.

The demo will be quite basic for anyone who is medically trained but everyone is welcome to watch and have a pint together.

Thanks

**Round Rotherham Run 2024** *5th October*

Hi everyone – it’s that time again! Please can you let me know if you want to join a team for the RRR 2024. For anyone new the RRR is a 50 mile run over 8 stages all of around 10k each. Starting and finishing at Manvers Lake. We need 8 people per team both men and women. Last 2 years we entered 3 teams – let’s try and beat that this year!

We will probably run at least 1 “Competitive” team and 2 Fun teams to try and suit everyone. The RRR is UNMARSHALLED which means you need to learn your leg beforehand so we need to decide teams in plenty of time so we can agree legs and do the reccies. Please can you let me know if you are interested and if you want to be competitive or fun. Any questions please see me or any of the committee at Club night.

Robin Friskney Trophy

As most of you know our dear friend Robin Friskney from Rawmarsh Runners sadly passed away on December 24th whilst taking part in the Kestrels Christmas Cracker run.

In association with Rawmarsh Runners we will be holding what we hope will be an annual event on Thursday 4th July.

Teams of 2 or 3 (depending on numbers) will compete together in a relay of a lap each of Rother Valley. The teams will be graded based on expected times so that a faster runner will be randomly teamed with a slower runner to hopefully give us pretty equal teams. The first team back will win the inaugural Robin Friskney trophy.

We are hoping that we may also be able to partake in a few nibbles and maybe a beer or two afterwards.

If you are interested, let Chris B, Amy Cushing or any of the Commitee know and we will add you to the WhatsApp group where further instructions will be issued.

We may consider a small entry fee which will all be donated to the Air Ambulance Charity.

There will be no Club run that evening so we hope to see as many people as possible.

Thanks

Chris
