Three Lakes Classic 2022

Entries are now open for the 2022 edition of our Three Lakes Classic! It will be held on 18th June at 11am in Rother Valley. More info and entry can be found here.

Entries are limited to 250 so get in there quick! This is usually a very popular race and as we haven’t been able to host it for the past 2 years we anticipate a lot of interest.

A reminder for Killamarsh Kestrels, we don’t accept club entries until we have a full set of marshals, reach out to Rachel Cadey if you can volunteer.

New scoring rule for XC 2022!

Quick note on scoring for XC, this year we have a NEW RULE! All the usual rules still apply, so the first 7 runners of each gender score their position (e.g. 5th place = 5 points). The club with the lowest score wins the series.

This year, after the first 7 scoring runners the next 10 runners home for each club will DEDUCT a point from the overall score!

For example – if our first 7 women clocked up a score of 112, but we had 5
additional women running in our team (12 women in total), we would deduct 5
points for a score of 107. There is a maximum of 10 points deducted from the
overall score (10 for the women, 10 for the men).

This means that to maximise our chances we need at least 17 men and 17 women to run for our club.

The idea here is to encourage more runners, of any ability, to take part in the series. Even if you tail walked it you would be helping your club!

The next XC is our home event in Killamarsh on 30th January – the perfect reason to join in if you haven’t given XC a try yet. And if you really don’t want to run it, we could still do with more volunteers to help us marshal and put on a fun and safe event.

Speak to our team captains Rachel Cadey and Kevin Rowles if you want a number to run, and Alicia Parkes if you can help out with marshalling.

Calling all Kestrels – XC 2022

#teamkestrels your club needs you!

On Sunday 30th January the inter-club cross country series will be coming to Killamarsh. We have the route. We have our start/finish team at the ready. We have a good number of runners. BUT WE DESPERATELY NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS FOR MARSHALS!

We can’t put the event on without our enthusiastic marshals ensuring our runners know where they are going, you are even welcome to give hints to runners from other clubs too…

Ideally we need 15 people, all you need to do is be free from about 1030-1230 on the day and bring your best motivational cheering and direction pointing. If we get enough volunteers we would also like to put on tea/coffee in the Leisure Centre car park for after the race, but this depends on getting enough people to help out. We really don’t want to have to ask people who want to run in the race to marshal instead, so if you or anyone you know (bring the whole family!) can help out, please consider it your good deed for the year – get it in early!

Please reach out to Alicia, Rach, Kev or Chris if you can help. Thanks to those who have already responded to the email that was also circulated.

Also a reminder that we have a XC event THIS Sunday (16th Jan). We will be enjoying all that Clowne and the surrounding area has to offer, which as I understand it is predominantly mud and hills!

Usual start time of 11am, get there a bit before as depending on where you park it can be a bit of a walk to the start line (located roughly at the junction of Mansfield Road and Fallowfield). REMEMBER YOUR RACE NUMBER! You keep the same one for the entire series. Also remember your club kit, or ask someone if you need to borrow a vest.

IMPORTANT – there will be no bag drop or toilet facilities and we will not have access to the community centre. Parking is available at the Community Centre (S43 4PL) or surrounding roads e.g. Church Street (S43 4JR) and North Road (S43 4JH). Please be considerate to the locals. We will bring a big bag to keep at the start line for Kestrels to use for jumpers/layers.

We had 30 hardy kestrels turn out for Retford and we would love to see even more at Clowne, so dig out your trail shoes and get stuck in! (Perhaps literally, the mud in Clowne is notoriously sticky…)
