Killamarsh Kestrels April & May news

There is so much news to cram into this double month update ~ apologies for the delay. It is fair to say that every Kestrel deserves a well done for all the races and personal bests achieved over the last 2 months!

Congratulations to Laura and Simon also who got married on May 18th 💘AND congratulations to James C who got married on the 25th of May.

Achievements

⭐Manchester Marathon – Battling it out in the northern heat was Natalie N, Jack H, Abby H, Rob W, Andy HR and Jade J. All six achieved a marathon PB 👏👏

⭐London Marathon – huge congratulations to Amy C, Chris B, Martin S (PB) and Phil S. 🙌

⭐Dusseldorf Marathon – John W bagged a sub 4 hour marathon PB of 3.56.50 in Germany!

⭐Rob Burrow Leeds Marathon – Kas did amazingly well in the heat and on the hills, bagging a 4:53:38 marathon PB. Kas also wanted to pass on her thanks for the support at her fundraiser and her love of being a Kestrel in general. She is a great addition to our club.  💛🖤

⭐Hathersage Hurtle – 14 Kestrels completed the course, well done to Chris B, David B, Jon C, Ian W, Louise GP, Andy HR, Sara HR, Rachel C, Kati W, Jason C, Sophie J, Jade J, Hollie H, Laura W🏅

⭐Thoresby Half Marathon – Third place for Steve C and Maisy! 🐾

⭐Rother Valley Park Run take over – volunteer and pacing event, thank you for taking part!

⭐Dronfield 10K – Mark D, Stacey E, Iain R, Stephen P, Laura W, Rachel C, Jason C, Alison M, James H and Jasper S took on the hills of this 10K! 👏

⭐Chesterfield 10K – Mark D, Jon C, Kelvin B, Andy HR, Martin S, Iain R, Sara HR, James H, Scott E, Rachel C, Alison M, Kati W and Paul M completed this race with a plethora of PBS, including another for Kati W at 55:57 👏

⭐Trunce – the series is well under way, Kev and Lou have both represented club here.

⭐Chesterfield Spire Ultra – A massive well done to Tom H who took on the Chesterfield Spire Ultra. Tom completed the 50K route in 6.03.49 bagged him the 10th position overall! 🏆

⭐The South Yorkshire Road – Runners included Lou, Richard E and Mark D. Well done!

⭐Birmingham Half Marathon – Well done Jasper who completed the race in 2.38.36 👏

⭐Holymoorside 10K – Smashing out another 10K race James H (55.35) and Steve GP (53:37)

⭐Derby 10K – James H was the lone Kestrel here, but it obviously worked out for him as he bagged a 10K PB of 49:01. Well done! 🏅

⭐Outlaw Half Nottingham – Which is 1.2 mile swim, 56 mile bike, 13.1 run.  Jack H completed the event in 05:21:19 and Stu in 05:53:34. Amazing training and effort put in, well done both.

⭐The KMR series continues. Team Kestrels had a huge turnout at Maltby 👏👏

⭐Les’s 12 hour BHF fundraiser – thank you to all those who supported this event 💓

⭐Rother Valley Relays – Big thank you to Kev for coordinating teams again and to Sara for helping out. A massive 12 teams of 42 Kestrels ran in the relay event, which is incredible.

⭐Manchester half marathon – well done to Natasha and also Mark D 👏👏

⭐Paris Marathon – Congrats to Adam D on an amazing time of 3:02:20!

⭐Well done to King Kev on his 250th Parkrun and Iain R on his 300th. Amazing achievements!! 👑

Rother Valley Relays

*Final track night – Thurs 29th May. Thank you all for getting stuck in to track. We will take a break for summer and return in September

*Thursday June 12th – First Kestrels on tour social run. Starting and finishing at the Travellers Rest, Apperknowle. Led by Alicia. More details to be e-mailed.  

*Three Lakes Classic – Saturday 14th June 2025. Please publicise to friends outside of Kestrels. Rachel Cadey is finalising volunteer and marshall points and will email and message with details when ready. If you haven’t yet put your name forward and you want to volunteer, please get in touch.

*KMR races series continues. It is great to have a Kestrels team there. Cheap, short and friendly races. Upcoming dates are  

  • Wed 28th May – Scholes Coppice
  • Tue 3rd June – Kimmy Kanter
  • Wed 18th June – Ulley Resevoir

*Summer Social date set – Saturday 19th July. It is likely to be an afternoon through to evening event. More details to follow.
