On Saturday 4th October, the 2025 edition of the legendary 50-mile Round Rotherham Run took centre stage β a self-navigated trail race winding through the stunning South Yorkshire countryside, complete with hills, woods, and freshly ploughed fields.
As reigning mixed team champions from 2024, the Kestrels faced a formidable challenge this year. With injuries affecting several runners, defending the title was never going to be easy. But true to form, the Kestrels rose to the occasion, fielding three determined and competitive teams β each with eyes firmly set on the finish line at Manvers.
π After months of rigorous training and route practice, the Kestrels Rockets mixed team stormed across the finish line at 2:26pm, clinching 1st place in their category and 2nd overall. Their blistering time of 6 hours 26 minutes shaved over 10 minutes off last yearβs winning mark β a phenomenal achievement!
π§οΈ The day was a true test of endurance and teamwork, with runners battling wind, rain, logistical puzzles, car hiccups, and of course, plenty of mud. But the spirit of the Kestrels shone through, turning adversity into triumph.
π Huge thanks go out to all runners, supporters, and especially to Andy and Sara β the masterminds behind the scenes who took on the monumental task of organising and coordinating the teams. Your efforts made the magic happen.
π» True to tradition, the day wrapped up with a thorough (and well-hydrated) debrief at the British Oak in Mosborough β because improvement never sleeps!
